You can try the dewormer from the pet store. Tapeworm Tabs actually come recommended by the vet as it's the same active ingredient as the prescription Drontal. If it doesn't work, see the vet. He may have had fleas before you got him. In any case, if he stays inside now and none of your other pets go outside, he should be flea and tapeworm free once you treat the tapeworms. If money is tight, ask your local humane society if they know of any low cost spay/neuter programs. Good luck!
