Does anyone know why in Naruto.....?

I was watching the latest episode of Naruto, the 3 parter that shows when naruto first got iruka as his homeroom teacher, roughly 1 year before the very first episode. at the end of the 3rd episode (the most recent of the 3) Iruka tells naruto about the Hokage and Naruto tells iruka that he now wants to be hokage so people respect him. one problem, in the episode where it explains why Hinata is in love with naruto, she first notices him when he goes running around shouting that he will be the future hokage. we obviously know that this clip takes place before the most recent and that hinata at this point loves him as she's spying on him while he practices the clone jutsu. so if she fell in love with him in an earlier episode where he wanted to be hokage, did he (by he I mean the writers) magically forget or is there somthing going on here?
